Power-to-hydrogen-to-power is a theoretically feasible pathway to achieve the on-demand use of intermittent renewable energy. Siemens Gas and Power, a major player in the gas turbine industry, is collaborating with Engie, an electric utility giant seeking to increase the share of renewables in its power production capacity from 28% in 2019 to 58% by 2030, to deliver the HYFLEXPOWER project, which aims to demonstrate the integrated process of power-to-hydrogen-to-power (P2H2P) at an industrial scale by April 2024 with a total budget of €15.2 million (including €10.5 million from EU's Horizon 2020 framework program).
