Givaudan takes the first step toward skin microbiome-based personalized cosmetic applications

March 18, 2021 | Case Study

Givaudan's Active Beauty division has been focusing on expanding its offerings related to skin microbiome modulation. Over the past few years, the company has launched a number of skin microbiome-targeting active cosmetic ingredients, such as Revivyl, Brightenyl, and Synchronight, a prebiotic targeting blue light damage to skin. Additionally, Givaudan is keen on building its internal R&D capabilities to strengthen its understanding of applied microbiomics. In line with this goal, the company made a new strategic investment in the Applied Microbiomics Centre of Excellence in Toulouse, France. In 2019, Givaudan launched a bioinformatics-based tool called i-MAPS for rapid skin microbiome profiling.
