Alfen integrates stationary energy storage with fast electric vehicle charging

Fast charging networks continue to grow worldwide; for example, EVgo announced its 800th fast charging station in the U.S., and Fastned, which operates 116 stations in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the U.K., and Switzerland, confidently continues to build more stations, as the company has been experiencing a growing demand for fast charging despite the impact of COVID-19. Along highways, fast charging points are being added to existing service stations to refuel and recharge internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs). However, the expansion of these fast charging networks challenges the stability of the grid that powers it due to the large amount of power drawn to charge EVs in a shorter amount of time.
