Is Zara really "Closing the Loop" in apparel sustainability?

September 04, 2019 | Case Study

Inditex, Zara's parent company, recently joined French President Emmanuel Macron's "Fashion Pact" alongside 32 companies encompassing 150 apparel brands. Inditex is one of many companies looking to switch to 100% organic, sustainable, or recycled materials by 2025. The company is trying to move toward a circular economy through its sustainable initiatives, such as its "Closing the Loop" collection and textile recycling partnerships with Lenzing Corp, MIT, and Tsinghua University. Here, Lux focuses on Inditex's post-consumer garment waste reclamation and textile recycling efforts.
