The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recently closed the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, also known as DEWA IV. Since its initiation in 2013, this project has become the largest single-site solar park in the world, and it is expected to reach 5,000 MW of installed capacity upon completion in 2030. With this addition, the solar park will not only increase its existing photovoltaic (PV) capacity, but more importantly, it will integrate concentrated solar power (CSP) for the first time. This installation has received significant attention due to its large thermal capacity, but especially because it will deliver CSP at its lowest levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) to date: $0.0073/kWh.
