Animal-free dairy producer Perfect Day pivots from B2C to B2B strategy

California-based Perfect Day is a developer of animal-free dairy ingredients using synthetic biology techniques. Launched as a part of the IndieBio accelerator in 2014, the company produces cow's milk proteins in yeast, mainly focusing on six proteins that it believes are essential to replicating dairy products made with cow's milk. It then emulsifies synthesized milk proteins with several fatty acids, sugar, and minerals to mimic cow's milk. It is currently providing samples to potential customers at pilot scale and aims to manufacture the first ton of protein by 2019.
