Israeli utility Hagihon adopts Aquarius' acoustic sensors for proactive leak detection

Finding leaks throughout water distribution networks is challenging for utilities that are under mounting pressure to address their aging infrastructure. Traditional reactive maintenance that relies on customer reports and staff observations has led to costly bursts due to lack of timeliness. More utilities have resorted to manual surveys, which are labor-intensive and can benefit from a more focused approach to improve efficiency. Israeli utility Hagihon, which serves a population of about 1 million in the city of Jerusalem and two adjacent towns, has worked with local startup Aquarius-Spectrum to test out its online acoustic sensors, seeking to reduce nonrevenue water and save on maintenance costs.
