Merck enters the lab-grown meat space by investing in MosaMeat

M Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of pharmaceutical giant Merck, co-led the Series A funding round of Dutch startup MosaMeat, which develops cultured meat from bovine cells. Interestingly, this is Merck's first investment in companies developing lab-grown meat. After making this initial investment, Merck has announced its accelerator program and sustained interest to support more startups in this space. It has identified cultured meat as an "Innovation Field" in which the company sees potential for new business.
